BEST DECISION EVER - GDP070

Here is the sketch that we are inspired to play with this week at Global Design Project.

I have had the absolute pleasure to welcome two new team members to my Stampin' Up! team, Paper Diva's, this week, so exciting!!  I used the sketch challenge to design two cards welcoming them both.

I have used the sketch on a portrait style card rather than a landscape (you can do that!).  A 14.8cm card front was just a little too wide to get the gorgeous stamps from the SAB set Delicate Details to fit across the card front in one go and I didn't want an accidental break in the design.

I first heat embossed the lace images in White on Shimmery White card before adding a water colour wash over the top, using a palette of three colours on each card to create an ombre effect.  After trimming to size, I popped this piece up on the card front with Dimensionals.  I then added just a thin strip of card in one of the colours on the water colour panel above that, before then adding a ribbon in yet another of the three original colours I used.

The Bermuda Bay 1/8" Stitched Ribbon was perfect for the blue card but I had to colour the ribbon myself for the purple card, using a Stampin' Write Marker and the White 1/8" Grosgrain ribbon from the Sending Love Ribbon Combo Pack (Occasions Catalogue pge.15).  I love that everything in the Stamp' Up! range colour coordinates and if they don't have something in a particular colour, such as my ribbon, you can colour it yourself!

I then carried the ombre colour to the sentiment inside to finish off this pretty card.

This is a great little sketch this week and lends itself to clean and simple designs.  I look forward to seeing what you come up with.  Be sure to link your entries to the Global Design Project page.  Have fun!

WONDERFUL FRIEND - COLOUR INKSPIRATION #1

Welcome to the first blog hop of the Colour INKspiration Crew! We are a team of Aussie and NZ Stampin' Up! ® Demonstrators that create projects based on Pinterest inspired colour swatches.  We also have a Facebook group where Stampin' Up! ® enthusiasts can share their paper craft projects using the colour combinations.  That means YOU! You don't need a blog to participate, just a Facebook page!  Every second and fourth Wednesday of the month a new challenge will go live.  Join the Colour INKspiration Facebook page, add the group to your favourites and share it with your crafty friends so they can join in with the challenges too.

You have probably come here from the very talented Rachel Palmieri's blog.  Wasn't her project amazing?!  Our first challenge is pretty colourful!  You can choose a minimum of three colours or use the whole lot, it's up to you!

I used the whole colour pallet but only in a tiny area.  The DSP is a Sale-A-Bration item called Inside the Lines Designer Paper and you can choose it as your free item when you spend $110 on any current catalogue purchase!  There are four designs to choose from in this beautiful DSP pack.  I used the busiest one, then used the spotlight technique to colour just a small area in the challenge colours.

I then framed this small piece in black and matched up the design before adhering with Dimensionals.  I heat embossed the sentiment in White embossing powder on a black card banner and choose just one colour from the range as my card base.  I love how this card turned out!

The Colour Inkspiration Design Crew have created more magic with this colour combination.  Your next stop on the hop is Nikki Spencer.  Nikki and I have had the pleasure of designing together in the past and I simply adore her work!

NAILED IT GDP069

I can't wait to see what everyone does with the colour challenge we have at Global Design Project for you this week!  This weeks guest designer, Claudia Maser, has the most beautiful card to share with you too!  You can see it HERE.

What do you think of this one?  Does it get you thinking?  Adding your own choice into this mix should help, lol.  I took this as an opportunity to make a great card for our boys!  The new Nailed It stamp set and coordinating dies were just perfect for what I wanted to do.

This stamp set contains so many great little images to use with the tool set, such as the screw heads on my base card.  They made a great background, and helped to break up the plain expanse of card, just by repeat stamping in black.  The little screws are another good one too!

I used the Silver Foil sheets to die cut a screw and the shaft of the screw driver, which I attached behind the handle after colouring in Delightful Dijon and then fussy cutting.  I put both the Urban Underground DSP and Washi Tape to good use on the card base and added some texture on the black card by running it through my Big Shot using the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing folder.  The depth of the impression is just breath taking and my photography really doesn't do it justice!

Join us in the colour challenge this week and be in to win a chance to be our guest designer in the next colour challenge!
